How to report material on Thaumaturgy that infringes your copyright, what happens when you do, and how to dispute a removal.
Thaumaturgy's own sound library is public-domain recordings and clips made for the app, and Sounds & licensing lists every one of them with its recordist. If you think a clip in the library doesn't belong there, the fastest route is the report button beside it in the app: that goes straight to a person, and a clip in doubt comes down while it's checked rather than after.
This page is for the other case — material someone using Thaumaturgy has put here, such as a campaign cover, that infringes your copyright.
Sending a notice
Write to the agent below. For a notice to be valid under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3)) it needs all six of these:
- Your signature, physical or electronic.
- The work you say has been infringed. A list is fine if it's more than one.
- The material you want removed and where it is — a link, or enough detail to find it.
- How to reach you: an address, a telephone number and an email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the notice is accurate and — under penalty of perjury — that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
If something is missing we'll write back and say what, rather than quietly doing nothing.
Designated agent
Notices go to the copyright agent for Beckham Enterprises LLC, registered with the United States Copyright Office:

This address is for copyright notices. Anything else — a bug, a sound that's wrong, a question — is read faster through the feedback form in the app.
What happens next
A valid notice gets the material removed or switched off promptly. In practice that means the day it's read: one person reads everything here. Whoever uploaded it is then told what was removed, why, and given a copy of the notice so they can respond.
Where a file has been removed on a valid notice, its exact contents are blocked from being uploaded again.
If you think your material was removed wrongly
You can send a counter-notice. Under §512(g)(3) it needs your signature, the material that was removed and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed through a mistake or misidentification, your name, address and telephone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if you're outside the United States, for the district where we are).
If a counter-notice arrives, it's passed to whoever sent the original notice. The law then provides for the material to go back up in 10 to 14 business days unless they tell us they've gone to court.
Repeat infringers
Accounts belonging to repeat infringers are terminated. What that means concretely: a valid notice is recorded against the account that uploaded the material, and an account that collects more than one is closed and not reopened. A notice that turns out to be mistaken, or that's answered by a counter-notice nobody follows up, doesn't count against anyone.
False notices
Under §512(f), knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing makes you liable for the damages that misrepresentation causes — including the other side's legal costs. Please be sure before you send one.
What we don't do
Nothing uploaded here is scanned or fingerprinted against a catalogue of commercial music, and we don't monitor what people store. The law doesn't require it (17 U.S.C. §512(m)) and the available tools can't tell an infringing copy from a licensed one — so what we rely on instead is acting quickly and properly on what's reported.
Trademarks
Dungeons & Dragons is a trademark of Wizards of the Coast LLC and Pathfinder is a trademark of Paizo Inc. Other game names are the trademarks of whoever owns them. Thaumaturgy is an independent tool and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any game publisher. If you own a mark and think something here uses it wrongly, the agent address above will reach us.
